Netherlands Scores Historic Gold at European Pickleball Championship

September 22, 2025 – In Rome, the Dutch pickleball team made history at the European Championship. For the first time ever, the Netherlands returns with two gold medals and one bronze—a milestone for our sport.

Gold – Women's Singles (Open Category)

Roos van Reek defeated Italian Francesca Rumi in an exciting final with scores of 12-10, 11-3.

Gold – Mixed Doubles

The duo of Roos van Reek and Pieter de Vries kept their cool in the final against Spain: 11-2, 13-11.

Bronze – Women's Singles 50+

Aranka Huijberts secured bronze after an impressive battle.

With participation from 30 countries, this was the second edition of the European Championship. The Dutch performances provide a boost to both the ambitions and visibility of pickleball in the Netherlands.

These historic achievements show that the Netherlands is on the pickleball map and inspire a new generation of players to take up the sport.
