Why Dinx Was Born

In The Hague, there was a lack of places where beginners and advanced players could play together on real pickleball courts. After our experience in the US with professional nets and crisp lines, we wanted that here too. That's how Dinx Pickleball was born: an accessible club with social play, lessons, clinics, and tournament formats.

A few years ago, I first discovered Pickleball in the US. From the very first moment, I was sold on this amazing sport. What started as curiosity quickly grew into pure passion. Now I'm not only an enthusiastic player, but also active as a coach and trainer. With great pleasure, I help others discover Pickleball and/or improve their game.

I never really played team sports, so I'm especially grateful that later in life I found a new sport I can even play competitively. But best of all are the friendships that extend beyond the sport.

I participated in an introduction training in August 2024 and haven't left since! "Pickleball has all the facets I look for in sports, plus the low-threshold entry creates a broad diversity of players which contributes to the community feeling within the club as well as Pickleball Netherlands". I'm a regular session host and try to create a welcoming environment for all skill levels.

A few months ago, I never thought I'd be playing more pickleball than padel. After a birthday clinic in April 2025, I was hooked! I've even managed to get my 70-year-old mom into it. It's such an addictive and fun sport, but I love it most for the incredible social community at Dinx. A huge shoutout to Joris and Rick - they helped me go from a one-off clinic to playing three times a week. (My padel friends still don't know!)

I've always loved racket sports—started with tennis, then explored table tennis, badminton for fun, and currently also play squash consistently. Then, about two months ago, I tagged along with a colleague who was heading to play pickleball (I hadn't even heard of this sport earlier), and I've been on the courts ever since! It's addictive, easy for all skill levels to enjoy, and the perfect mix of social time and exercise. Honestly, it's quickly become my favorite hobby, especially since I love a powerful smash now and then to knock out some work stress :)

I discovered Pickleball while on vacation in America. When I found out that Dinx was right around the corner from me, I signed up immediately. Since then, I've been playing weekly on the courts. The atmosphere is great and with the different skill levels in the group, you can always play fun, intense games. Additionally, there's a lot of focus on further developing your game. You get to face new challenges on the court that help you constantly elevate your game to the next level. Amazing!

I first picked up a paddle out of curiosity and quickly fell in love with the sport's fast-paced, strategic gameplay and welcoming community. I am always up for a good game. I enjoy the challenge of improving my skills and learning from every match. Pickleball has become more than just a hobby for me: It is a way to stay active, connect with others, and have fun. I'm 78 and have always enjoyed playing tennis, but when my regular group split up, I wanted to find an alternative. Right then, pickleball came my way—close to home. The great thing is you can play at any level; there's even a 50+ group. The game itself is wonderful: shorter rallies on a smaller court suit me better now, and the social time afterward with a cappuccino and a chat makes it extra valuable. Age turns out not to be a barrier—young and old share the court. And sometimes I still surprise them with a shot they don't expect from me—that makes it perfect. I enjoy it every single time I get to step on the court.

I first discovered pickleball a few years ago while visiting my sister in the US, where she also plays and introduced me to the game. At the time, I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t until I came across the Dinx club in The Hague that I really started playing consistently. Joining the club gave me the chance to not only improve my skills on the court but also to meet a fantastic group of people. The mix of friendly competition, encouragement, and fun has made pickleball a big part of my routine, and I’m grateful for how much it adds to both my fitness and social life. A big thanks to Joris and Rick for starting the club and for everything they do to grow the sport in the Netherlands—it’s because of their efforts that so many of us get to play, connect, and enjoy the game.
